This week will be extra busy! We have the Art Show Tuesday night, class and individual pictures Friday, and the Humphrey finale on Friday night. Friday is also the last day of the Spring fundraiser. Each class with 100% participation gets a popsicle party! We can do it! =)
Here's what we'll be learning:
Language Arts:
This week's story: The Bravest Cat
Strategy: Drawing conclusions
Skill: Cause and effect
Phonics: -ew and -ue; inflected -es vs. plural -es
Writing: "Super-size" sentences
Math:
The children are doing a GREAT job with money (SOL 1.7). They are doing very well with labeling their coins and counting by 1s, 5s. and 10s.
Social Studies:
We're going to be creating our maps this week (SOL 1.5), then will be moving on to a Science unit about matter (SOL 1.3).
Important notes/reminders:
*All first graders will be watching a play on Monday, "Town Mouse, Country Mouse"!
*The Art Show is Tuesday at 6:30.
*Picture forms were sent home last week. Class and individual pictures will be taken Friday.
