Getting the hang of things...

We have had a great couple of days together. We've been busy getting familiar with first grade routines and procedures. Students should be able to tell you all five of our class rules with the gestures! They are quickly learning how to be Super Learners and many are moving right up the clip chart to reach "Superhero Status". The class has been working hard to earn a bubblegum party; right now they have "BUB" - so just 6 letters to go! Mr. Goetz and Mrs. Novak are ready to join in the fun once the children earn the party.

Today we did a fun madlibs activity to learn about our schedule. I was impressed with all the words that the children came up with - the story was HILARIOUS. We also started a glyph that we'll use to showcase favorite things about each student. We will proudly display these once they are finished. Mrs. Ball, the Search teacher for CAES, stopped by our room today to introduce herself to the kids and to learn about our classroom. She will be working with our class throughout the year, both in and out of the classroom. She was lots of fun, so we look forward to working with her!

We will be focusing on how to choose "Good Fit" books and ways to be "Super Readers" for the rest of this week, as well as chicken, giraffe, and monkey letters. What are THOSE letters, you ask? Your child should be able to teach you about them tomorrow (Thursday)!
