Math:
We are wrapping up our study of geometry this week. The kids loved creating the shape animals below (I'm sorry it's sideways - if any blogger-friends can assist, please do. =) It's edited in iphoto, but won't rotate when loaded on Blogger).
Science:
We are moving right along. Students did an AWESOME job with day and night. Again, I was very impressed with all they knew and all that they were able to soak up. Has your child given you a lesson in why we have day and night yet? How many facts can he or she tell you about the sun and the Earth? This week, we are moving on to our Social Studies unit that explores communities in Virginia (SOL 1.12). Students will understand that we are a diverse group of people, but we are united as Americans. We'll also take a look at why a local government is important in a community.
